Montezuma Community Development, a non-profit corporation, works to improve the quality of life throughout Montezuma by coordinating housing development; support for business; arts, culture and recreation enhancement; and community events, improvements and promotions on behalf of our businesses and residents.

Strategic Plan & Priorities
The Montezuma Community Development Board completed a strategic planning process in 2016. As a result of this process, the Board of Director has committed to building MCD into a:
- Facilitator of Housing Development
- Champion of Workforce & Residential Growth
- Catalyst for Business Development
- Advocate for Recreation, Arts & Culture; and
- A Model of Organizational Leadership & Partnership

Key Accomplishments of MCD
Since its incorporation in 2012, MCD has been a driver of much of the crucial development in Montezuma. From grant writing to business recruitment, MCD is proud to serve as a leader in the growth of our community. Some key accomplishments include:
- Recruitment of NuCara Pharmacy to fill the gap in pharmaceutical drug providers
- Successful application and administration of the CDBG Downtown Facade Revitalization project, $1.1 million invested into Montezuma's square
- Implemented Monte Pride Day, a city-wide community service day leveraging nearly 300 volunteers annually
- Grant-writing activities that have brought nearly $50,000 into the community for a variety of projects
- Assisted with marketing and business support activities for several new business
- Provided fundraising and fiscal agent services for the Poweshiek County Freedom Rock Project
